Silica Fume Properties
● Silica fume, also known as microsilica is an amorphous non-crystalline polymorph of silicon dioxide. It is an ultrafine powder collected as a by-product of the silicon and ferrosilicon alloy production and consists of spherical particles with an average particle diameter 0.1-0.15um. Specific surface area is 15-27m2/g, and it has extremely strong surface active, can be widely used in concrete, grouting and mortar, refractory materials, ceramics and other fields.
● 85% Silica Fume is a densified grey or black color dry powder, microsilica admixture for portland cement concrete and mortars.
● 85% Densified Silica Fume is a pozzolanic material that consists primarily of fine silicon dioxide particles in a non-crystalline form.
● 85% Densified Microsilica Complied with ASTM C1240 silica fume standard. and contains a minimum of 85% silicon dioxide (SiO2)

● Silica fume (microsilica) is a byproduct of producing silicon metal or ferrosilicon alloys. One of the most important uses for micro silica fume is in concrete. Because of its physical and chemical properties, it is a very reactive pozzolan. Concrete with silica fume will have very high strength and can be very durable. Silica fume is available for concrete admixtures suppliers and, it's simply added during concrete production.
● Because of fine particles, large surface area, and the high SiO2 content, silica fume is usually used as a mineral admixture in concrete. Silica-fume concrete with a low water content is highly resistant to penetration by chloride ions. More and more transportation agencies are using silica fume in their concrete for construction of new bridges or rehabilitation of existing structures.
● Silica fume for use in concrete is available in wet or dry forms. It is usually added during concrete production at a concrete plant. Silica fume-concrete has been successfully produced in both central-mix and dry-batch plants.
